چکیده

Abstract. The emergence of desiccated lake bed sediments and their exposure to wind erosion as a consequence climate change drought in arid semiarid regions the world poses growing hazard. Airborne dust originating from such soils can create health environmental issues due high salt content presence toxic elements. aim present study is twofold, namely investigate newly emerged playa surfaces western Lake Urmia (LU) Iran contribution aerosol region by means physicochemical, mineralogical, elemental analyses ice nucleation (IN) activity both surface-collected soil airborne samples. created desiccation LU on shores were mapped sampled at 130 locations. Soil samples subjected physicochemical analyses, erodible fraction was determined. Based these four highly northwest south selected sites for collection impaction uppermost surface. Their particle properties (size distribution, mineralogical composition) compared with IN determined emulsion freezing experiments differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) two suspension concentrations 2 wt % 5 %. differed significantly between different surfaces, which affects susceptibility erosion. Sand sheets sandy crusts most sand low organic matter clay content, favouring small aggregates. Mineralogical document prevalence quartz, carbonates, minerals, kaolinite, palygorskite, chlorite all predominant elements are Ca, Fe, Al, Si, Na (and some cases Ba, Sr, Zn). correlation based composition, enrichment factors, confirm that major contributors region. onset temperatures ranging 245 250 K demonstrates potential blown affect cloud precipitation. Freezing heterogeneously frozen droplets emulsions reveal variations depending composition but also influenced matter, salinity, pH. Specifically, correlates positively minerals negatively pH, (surprisingly) K-feldspar quartz content. erodibility production together play an important role thus needs careful monitoring specific attention.

Airborne dust and its significance to soils

Movement of mineral dust by the atmosphere has been underway for ages, but efforts to assess its magnitude and significance have come largely in the last century. Attempts to identify and understand effects of the dust on soils are even more recent, mostly in the last 30 years. Airborne movements have several forms. Dust is transported by large storms that can be spectacular. Dust is also moved...

Latex allergens in tire dust and airborne particles.

The prevalence and severity of latex allergy has increased dramatically in the last 15 years due to exposure to natural rubber products. Although historically this health risk has been elevated in hospital personnel and patients, a recent survey has indicated a significant potential risk for the general population. To obtain a wide-spread source for latex exposure, we have considered tire debri...

the relation between bilingualism and translation: a case study of turkish bilingual and persian monolingual translation students

translation studies have become an accepted academic subject and books, journals and doctoral dissertations appear faster than one can read them all (bassnet and lefevere, 1990). but this field also brought with itself so many other issues which needed to be investigated more, in the heart of which, issues like ideology, ethics, culture, bilingualism and multilingualism. it is reported that ove...

presence of coxiella burnetii in airborne dust samples from goat and sheep farms in kerman, iran

background :  q fever is a zoonotic disease caused by inhalation of the bacterium coxiella burnetii . ruminant livestock are common reservoirs for c. burnetii , and bacteria present in aerosols derived from the waste of infected animals can infect humans . c. burnetii is thought to infect humans primarily via airborne transmission. methods : 64 environmental swab samples were collected from 24 ...
